maths home learning 5/6/15

Maths Home Learning                4H                             Week ending: 5/6/15

This week, due to science testing, we have been teaching maths in our own class. The children have been working together to solve different problems using by creating an ordered sequence. Here is a final problem for the children to try:

Find how many different ways the frog can cross the river using the stepping stones. Remember draw it out and then write each sequence down. Complete the chart below with your answers.

Think carefully. You should see a pattern. Can you describe the rule?

Can you predict how many different ways the frog could get across using 5 stepping stones?

Number of stepping stones:            0       1         2       3         4

There is further information on this on the home learning worksheet. Try to complete as much as you can by drawing the stepping stones and the number of hops. Don't worry if you do not come to a conclusion - we will look at it together next Thursday as a class.
