Year 4 Maths Homework                   Due: 20/6/17

This week the children have been subtracting using the column method and where appropriate counting up using a number line (best used when there are lots of zeros in the number they are subtracting from).  The children need to solve these problems using the best method and showing their workings.

  1. Nadia has collected 310 stickers. She gives away 185. How many stickers does she have left?
  2. Two containers are filled with juice. One holds 2846 ml, the other
    3673 ml. What is the difference in capacity between the containers?
  3. Andrew buys a book for £14.75. How much change does he get from £20?
  4. 3000 – 1646
  5.  5212 – 3858
  6. Two subtraction questions each give an answer of 2627. Make up 2 subtraction questions, one best solved using counting up and one that is best solved using the column method.
  7. Of 2736 people who use a swimming pool in one month, 1258 are children. How many are adults?
  8. In November a shop sells 4371 cards. In December it sells 2648. How many more cards are sold in November than December?
  9. A plane is flying 4191 miles from London to Delhi. It has flown 2738 miles. How much further is the flight?
  10.  A plane needs to fly 4006 miles to its destination.  It has already flown 2567 miles. How much further does it need to fly?
