During the
past two weeks the children have been learning how to recognise similes,
metaphors and personification. This poem (The Sun) contains one of each. Can
you find them and label the poem.
The sun
Is a leaping
fire
Too hot
To go near.
But it will still
Lie down
In warm
yellow squares
On the
floor.
Like a flat
Quilt. Where
The cat can
curl
And purr.
Choose a
noun e.g. cat, car, elephant, flower. Can you write your own poem containing a
simile, metaphor and personification?
