Week one

Dear parents
We have had a great start to the year and the children are quickly settling into their new classes and making new friends. We will continue to encourage this but if you become aware of any problems please feel free to contact us.
Swimming starts on Monday so please send your child to school with a swimming kit and a snack for afterwards. Remember the slightly earlier start for the first swimming group.
All children should have brought home two books for their home learning. These should be covered and returned to school by Tuesday please. Tuesday is also the day we would like to check the reading record books - so please remind your child to hand this in as well.
Tuesday is also Roald Dahl day and we are encouraging the children to come to school dressed as a character from one of his stories. We are not expecting anything complicated - Tshirt and shorts (for Danny / Charlie) or a dress (Matilda / Sophie) is fine. The idea behind the day is to encourage children to read and enjoy these wonderful books.
Thank you for helping providing your child with a fully equipped pencil case. As you know writing equipment tends to have a short but busy life in the hands of an eight year old so please check regularly that your child has a working handwriting pen, white board pen, pencil, ruler and glue stick - it will make lessons so much easier.
Please ensure ALL clothes (including coats) are labeled.  Children often fail to recognise their own possessions and as school sweat shirts are all identical we stand little chance of reuniting the missing item with its owner.
Thank you
Mrs Hall & Mrs Astley
