Maths Homework


Year 4 Maths Homework    Due 9.2.16  (Mrs Hall's group)

This week we have been working on fractions, simplifying and finding fractions of amounts.

Children should answer these questions in their books showing all their workings.

1.     Find the fractions of the following numbers and quantities.

a.    1/3 of 24            2/3 of 24

b.    1/5 of 25            4/5 of 25

c.     1/6 of 360          5/6 of 360

d.    4/7 of 35            (Remember find the unit fraction first and                    

e.     2/5 of 450           your place value knowledge)

f.     5/6 of 540

 

2.    Answer the following worded questions.

a.    There are 12 eggs in a box.  Five sixths are used.  How many eggs have been used? (Work out what 1/6 is first)

b.    There are 27 children in a class.  Eight ninths are at school.  How many children are at school?

c.     An orchard has 480 trees.  Three eighths are in bud. How many trees are in bud?

d.    What is 3/5 of £2.00

 

3.    Simplify the following fractions:

a.    3/12         b.   9/36        c.   9/27          d. 15/24
