This week we have been practising the grid method for multiplication. Write these out in your book and complete. Remember to set it out neatly writing one digit per square.

1.     Draw the grid.
2.   Partition the two digit number and write it down the side.
3.   Write the single digit number on the top.
4.   Start with multiplying the tens number. (x 10) or ( x 2 x 10)
5.   Multiply the single digit numbers.
6.   Add the answers together to find the final answer.

Use the grid method to solve these word problems:

1) Rosie saves £14 each week. How much will she have saved after five weeks?

2) There are 12 eggs in a large box. How many eggs are there in three boxes?

3) A box of pencils holds 24 pencils. How many pencils are there in five boxes?

4) What is twenty five multiplied by three?
